Prof. Dr. Francis Rome is the Chairman of the Flemish Port Commission and Professor C-MAT (UAntwerp). He served as Director of Business Development of Flanders Institute for Logistics, a government sponsored Centre of Knowledge in Supply Chain Management, and before as Managing Director of Polaroid Belgium for 6 years. Dr. Rome served as Global Commercial Director of DHL from January 1995 to mid 2001 based at the DHL World Headquarters in Brussels. He joined DHL in 1992 as Business Development Director for DHL’s Europe and Africa Region. Other positions held during his career include Commercial Director of Quaker Oats Belgium and Brand Manager for P&G Benelux. He served as Director of Zemblaz NV from April 24, 2007 to October 9, 2007. Dr. Rome has been teaching Marketing at the Boston University (Brussels). Dr. Rome holds a PhD in International Economics (Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies, Washington DC) and a Master in International Relations (Johns Hopkins University, SAIS, BolognaItaly/ Washington DC).
